How is this curriculum different from what is already included in conventional syllabus for the students? Subjects like - “Value Education”, EVS and so on?
The traditional or conventional curriculum is subject-centred, it values memorization of facts & following of a core curriculum while the essential or Q-SKILLS curriculum is child & life-centred, emphasising on critical thinking and creativity, the abilities for adaptive & positive behaviour enabling the youth to deal effectively to the demands & challenges of everyday life.
Is this curriculum based on only practical learning or is it having a theoretical aspect too?

Q-SKILLS will have a combination of both practical and theoretical aspects. It helps to understand the concept behind the techniques, which helps us differentiate why one technique works and another fails. Theoretical knowledge makes it easier to practically apply things because theory teaches from the broader experiences of others.

Apart from Life skills does this curriculum excel or uplift any individual skills as in terms of profession/Hobbies?

QSKILLS provides children with important tools for development, such as independent thinking, socialising, networking, how to take action in situations where parents or teachers may not be around to help or intervene, and personal insecurities and fears. Life skills are critical to management, leadership, and maturity, with 88% of young people, 94% of employers, and 97% of teachers saying that they are as important or more important than academic qualifications, according to various research sources.

How and why is this curriculum helpful in dealing with “Real Life Challenges”?

How does this curriculum build corporate skills from an early schooling stage of a child?

Life skills need to be taught and implemented at an early age, ideally on how to make effective decisions, handle peer pressure, and set them up for success. Research suggests a positive correlation between life skills and increased attendance levels, enhanced classroom behaviour, and academic achievement. At this stage, they also begin to develop decision-making skills and values that help them shape their lives. The knowledge and skills that students gain in academics and personal areas of their lives become the foundation for success in their careers and communities.

Are these classes engaging? Are some activities planned in this curriculum ? if yes please elaborate.

Depending on the topic, this would involve a few role or mock plays, interactive and engaging sessions, and in some cases, such as table manners, a practical play to demonstrate the etiquette.

How does this curriculum build corporate skills from an early schooling stage of achild?

Life skills need to be taught and implemented at an early age ideally on how to make effective decisions, handle peer pressure and set them up for success.

At this stage, they also begin to develop decision-making skills and values which help them shape their life. The knowledge and skills that students gain in academics and personal areas of their life become the foundation for success in their careers and com- munity.

Wouldn’t this curriculum create an extra burden for the students apart from the main academic pressures with coaching and tuition classes, which they already have?

No, this will not burden a child in any way; we would make it very engaging, flexible, and effective. Besides its 70 hours annually being conducted, this is an extremely productive time spent. Further, it is a bonus that often results in a positive school environment with nurturing, support, and safety.

Why do you think any student would be keen to enrol in this curriculum? What's the major X factor of this curriculum?

From the student’s point of view, this curriculum is more interactive, fun, and innovative, giving them the opportunity and freedom to express themselves unconventionally. There are no additional assignments beyond school hours or pressure to excel and compete, ensuring they realise the importance of these skills gradually as they climb up the ladder in school and with the practical experiences that are encountered.

How would you judge if the students are literally learning from this curriculum or not? What's the parameter?

Though it would be complex to implement and measure it, we would follow a diagnostic assessment that includes a discussion, informal quiz, a survey, or a quick paper. Use frequent informal assessments to monitor progress. Formative assessments are any assessments implemented to evaluate progress during the learning experience. However, we have enabled the entire programme with an effective Q-SKILLS mobile application to monitor and track individuals’ performance and personality development.

Is the curriculum common for all classes, or does it have diversity as we move up the classes from 1st to 12th grade?

To begin with, the curriculum would be more or less common across all, depending on the child’s grade or age. However, we would gradually evolve and innovate with the present demands. You could refer to our QSKILLS brochure on the various version 2 curriculum in the coming year, which covers over 60 topics under our programme and is divided and developed age- or class-wise with multiple volumes as well.

What are the skills that this curriculum aims to build in students?

Depending on their age, children will be adept at:

Cognition – the ability to learn and problem solve.

Social interaction and emotional regulation—interacting with others and mastering self-control

Speech and Language: Understanding and Using Language, Reading, and Communicating

Physical skills: fine motor (finger) skills and gross motor (whole body) skills

Financial literacy, money management, food habits, and various mannerisms and etiquette

While in the case of older students, it would involve other aspects of sub stance abuse and its affects, basic Indian Law and tax awareness, relationship values, acts of kindness, human rights, mental health, survival skills and so on.

From where has this curriculum been prepared? Any practical examples of its success?

Q-SKILLS is designed and authorised by a team of over 20 PhDs, doctors, IAS officers, psychologists, sports scientists, and technology partners from India, Kuwait, Germany, the UK, and the USA.

How does this curriculum impact the mental health of students?

The results showed that life skills training had an effect on decreasing the symptoms of mental disorders, especially anxiety, depression, and stress, by adjusting students thinking patterns, behaviours, and social interactions. Therefore, this gives people a better opportunity to take on life differently and manage symptoms of their mental health issues in healthy ways.

How many schools have incorporated similar curriculums into their profiles? and how it impacted their school's image and popularity? any examples?

The curriculum has already been widely discussed among the top academic institutions before its launch in the 2023 academic year, and many of the subject experts who have contributed to the topics or subjects in QSKILLS, besides parents, have also embraced these subjects with testimonials that have been shared.

What would be the major difference between the ones taking these classes and the ones not taking such classes?

Students opting for life skills will have clear and better advancements in the areas mentioned above, besides being better equipped to deal with mental health, digital literacy, substance abuse and its effects of overconsumption, healthy food habits, financial literacy on limiting expenditures, traffic,  and automobile regulations. Etc.,

Is there a ranking system?

No, there would be no ranking system.

What will students receive after completion of the course?

It is a vast knowledge of life skills; we shall be issuing a certificate of completion.

Yes, the Q-SKILLS app is very user-friendly.

Not exactly, provided parents will have to pay for the products utilized for practical and text books.

 

Why are there limits on institution tie-ups?

Due to the logistics of hiring, training, and placements, certifying, and technical set-ups, we do not wish to skew the placements, giving no room for error in positioning the right fit.
